Wizards of Seattle News!

Posted by John O'Riley on November 5, 2015 at 10:10 PM Comments comments (1)

I have exciting news about the Wizards of Seattle series. I decided to get rid of Caretaker, a novella, and combine it with Inheritance so that it makes Inheritance a full-length novel. So now, the free ebook Inheritance is now a full-length book instead of a novella. If you already downloaded the free book, Inheritance, you can download Caretaker for free on my homepage. I have included an Amazon Kindle and also a Nook under the listing Inheritance.

The Witch With No Name

I am such a huge fan of Kim Harrison's Hollows series that I hated it when The Witch With No Name became available because I knew it was the end. This is such an inventive, exciting, and fun series. The Witch With No Name was an absolutely fantastic conclusion to the series. It brought all of the elements together and by the end of the story she tied all the loose ends. I would definitely recommend anyone who's a Hollows series fan or who loves urban fantasy. If you haven't read her other books, I would encourage you to start from the beginning.

Her story is rich with supernatural characters including demons, the elves, witches, and gargoyles. The mystics were another fantasy element that I found so intriguing and it was suspenseful because you never knew what they were going to do or what the outcome would be. There were so many surprising plot twists, so much adventure, and there was romance.

I won't say any more because I don't want to give away any details to anyone who hasn't yet read the book.

What to do when your dog likes to eat books

Posted by John O'Riley on March 2, 2014 at 11:05 PM Comments comments (0)

I've loved reading as far back as I remember. When I was in grade school, I owned a purebred cocker spaniel named Rudy who loved to eat books. This provided me with a challenge on how to read my books before they were devoured by my naughty but loveable pet.

One of my favorite spots to hide a book was in between the mattress and the box springs. I was reading a Wrinke In Time by Madeleine L’Engle and about halfway through the book. I remembered how engrossed I was in it and looking forward to some more reading when I came home and found the book on the floor with a bunch of the pages ripped out and the corners of the book chewed badly. That’s right, Rudy had managed to dig it out from between the mattress and the box springs because I hadn’t shoved it very far in. I hadn’t dreamed she would reach in there like that. I didn’t make that mistake again but if I ever forgot to put away a book, it’s days were numbered. I wonder what she would have done with my Kindle if I had owned one at that time.
